‘We are finished’, ‘No thanks’: Manchester City supporters went into panic mode after Kyle Walker’s desire for the new season
Manchester City supporters have gone into a frenzy on social media after Kyle Walker’s latest revelation ahead of the new season.

The 34-year-old has returned to the Etihad Stadium following a fantastic tournament with England at the European Championships, where his contributions helped Gareth Southgate’s team advance to the competition’s final against Spain.

Walker was unable to participate in Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States due to his lengthy vacation, but he has already returned to the City Football Academy in preparation for the new season.

As part of his preparations, the Manchester City captain has set specific aims and targets for the new season, one of which is to score goals despite being a typical right-back.

During the latest episode of his BBC Sounds podcast, ‘You will Never Beat Kyle Walker,’ the Manchester City captain discussed his desire to improve his goalscoring form for the club during the 2024/25 season.

“I am definitely going to strive to get a couple more goals this season, because I think I am in excellent spots,” Walker told co-host Chris Huges. “I need to start adding it to my game, you know, I am 34 years old now,” he said.

Walker was so confident in his ability to score a goal for Manchester City this season that he offered to take Hughes out to lunch the next day after scoring for Pep Guardiola’s team.

A goal would be a considerable improvement on Kyle Walker’s production last season, when he scored zero goals but assisted five times across all competitions in 47 games.

The ongoing summer transfer season has also raised questions over the full-back’s future, with several sources claiming that officials in Saudi Arabia valued his skills.

Little has changed since such speculative reports, and Kyle Walker is now anticipated to stay in Manchester beyond the current summer transfer window and into the next season, perhaps keeping his position as club captain.
