During the summer transfer window, FC Barcelona experienced a relatively quiet period in terms of signing new players. There was minimal activity, and the club only managed to secure two permanent transfers, both being forwards. One of these was Pau Victor, who had impressed during his loan spell with Barcelona Atletic the previous season. His transfer did not put much strain on the club’s finances. The more notable signing, however, was Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. Olmo, a product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, returned to the club for a substantial transfer fee, making his acquisition one of high significance for the team.
Although there were some initial delays in registering Olmo, he made an impactful debut in his new Barça career. Nevertheless, concerns arose after Spain’s head coach, Luis de la Fuente, revealed that Olmo had taken a hard knock during an international match against Serbia. This immediately raised fears about a potential injury that could interfere with Barcelona’s plans for the season.
Thankfully, medical examinations later provided positive news for the Catalan side. According to Mundo Deportivo, Olmo’s injury is not serious. Although he will miss Spain’s upcoming match against Switzerland, this is largely a precautionary measure to ensure his full recovery. Barcelona will also be relieved, given that young star Lamine Yamal has been overused by the Spanish national team, so having Olmo rest is seen as beneficial.
This period of rest is expected to allow Olmo to completely recover and be available for Barcelona’s next match against Girona after the international break. His participation will be crucial as Hansi Flick continues to refine the team’s performance and pursue their season’s objectives.
